Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg
2 tbsp chopped fresh basil (or 1 tsp dried basil)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
9 lasagna noodles, uncooked
1 cup water
Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Add the garlic and cook for another minute. Drain any excess fat.
Add Sauce: Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes.
Mix Cheeses: In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Layer the Lasagna: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom of the slow cooker. Break the lasagna noodles to fit and layer them over the sauce. Spread a layer of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Repeat the layers (meat sauce, noodles, cheese mixture) until all ingredients are used, ending with a meat sauce layer.
Add Water: Pour the water around the edges of the slow cooker (this helps the noodles cook evenly).
Cook on Low: Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the noodles are tender.
Top with Cheese: About 10 minutes before serving, sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese over the top. Cover and cook until the cheese is melted.
Serve and Enjoy: Let the lasagna sit for a few minutes before serving. Slice and enjoy!
